Twins notes from Game 1, Inning 1.
Monday, March 31, 2008
So the Twins season is officially underway. Livan Hernandez had a good 1-2-3 inning to start the game. A double by Gomez and a single by Singles has the Twins up 1-0 early in front of a sellout crowd!
Gardy makes me want to stab myself moment #1 for the season:
Jered Weaver is starting for the Angels. He is a RHP. Craig Monroe is the DHing and batting 6th for the Twins. SADPOIHFPOSIDHTPOHISET
PECOTA projections vs. RHP:
Kubel: .285/.351/.489
Monroe: .240/.292/.395
FREE KUBEL!!!!!!!!!
While writing this the inning ended. Cuddy flew out, Morneau walked, Delmon flew out (on the first pitch) and Monroe flied out.
/Update and Torii gets a standing as he steps to the plate in the second.
/Update2 After two innings, Livan's fastball has registered as a changeup on MLB Gameday every time except once, when he really reared back and touched 87mph. Had I got around to doing my PitchFX previews for each Twins starter, you'd probably already know to expect that. Here is a preview of Livans:
Livan has 4 pitches:
A Fastball that moves up and in on rightes, averages around 85mph and he throws it about on about 48% of his pitches.
A big SLOW curve (66mph, 11%)
A slider (78mph, 31%)
A changeup that moves just like his fastball (76mph, 10%)
/Update3 Gomez 2-2 with a double and a bunt single. Weaver paying CLOSE attention to Gomez at first.
/Update4 They pitch out and Gomez steals 2nd anyway.
